Introductions and overview of the STAC for guests.
Chris Lucas and Nathan Cullier outlining ITS Training Services. Focus is on the Student Tech Tutors program. Highlights:
– average consultations are 32 minutes
– in Knowledge Commons (84% of consultations), Pollock, Electronic (via the email address that originally was designed for getting information about applying for a job)
– Fills the gap for software support — not tech support or media support
– Top 5 — Excel, ANGEL, MT, Photoshop, Word, PPT
– Spreading the word … at the moment it is coming via word of mouth, through popular classes, facebook, twitter, yammer, signage, custom business cards
– Currently thinking about how we would extend this service to the campuses
Ideas for Promotion
– Email a single PPT to faculty in various colleges
– Use adobe connect to do virtual office hours
– student news wire
– walk through of high traffic labs
